The company celebrated its fourth anniversary with the opening of the fourth “city of high technologies” in Kyiv. The new hypermarket is located at 26 Hryhorenka Avenue, Velyka Kyshenya shopping center. Its floor space is 1,430 square meters. Customers may get there by taking a branded “City.com” Kyiv subway train, one of which runs on the Pechersk-Syrets line.
In the nearest future, two more hypermarkets will be opened in Cherkasy and Vinnytsa.
Today, City.com consists of 18 stores in 12 large cities of Ukraine. We accomplished many things during these four years, thus, we have something to be proud of!
Financial Reliability
According to the results of the first nine months of 2008, the chain of City.com hypermarkets significantly improved its financial indicators. Compared to the same period of the previous year, there was a 51% increase in sales proceeds (UAH 481.644 million for the first nine months of 2008 versus UAH 318.954 million for the first nine months of 2007) and the company’s net profit (UAH 401.087 million versus UAH 265.096 million).
The gross profit also increased by 60% (from UAH 48.340 million for the first nine months of 2007 to UAH 77.206 million for the first nine months of 2008).
The chain’s net profit for the indicated period increased almost four-fold, or to UAH 4.795 million compared to UAH 1.296 million for the first nine months of 2007.
EBITDA profitability also increased by 1.8 points (8.82% for the first nine months of 2008 versus 7.02% for the same period of 2007).
City.com had two flotations of corporate bond issues: of series A in June 2006 and series B in August 2007. Within each of the series, the company issued 50,000 registered interest-bearing non-documentary bonds with a par value of UAH 1,000 each.
Convenient Format
We were the first chain of modern electronics hypermarkets in the CIS where a new cash&carry sales technique was applied. We are the only ones to offer a full cycle of photo laboratory services right in the store.
We don’t leave our customers unattended; we accompany them, which is our free service.
“City.com is a unique brand on the electronics market that represents everything that can be called new and high-tech; it suits the modern city life. We are the only ones on the Ukrainian market who devoted over 80% of our floor space to the modern electronic goods market,” said Radislav Filatov, director of the City.com chain of stores.
Goods Accessibility
The demonstration mode that we offer on each stand with goods can be compared to a clothing store where customers can try things on. This helps select an electronic assistant, and understand the product’s functions, which will be handy in household use and at work. In striving to make technology available for customers with different buying possibilities, we came up with a special format called City.com-econom. It gives customers an opportunity to buy IT electronics for the most affordable price, which has been cut due to various reasons.
Brand Popularity
Approximately 9,500 people visit our stores each day, and about 4,000 of them make purchases.
We had an idea to put on a unique crash-show, when over 8,000 people who gathered for it could destroy their old electronics in one of four offered ways and receive new electronics in exchange.
The stars get closer at City.com. Last year the chain launched its “star series at City.com” project, which involves autograph-signing sessions and new record presentations by Ukrainian show business celebrities. We were delighted to meet such stars as Svetlana Loboda, the Quest Pistols band, Pavlo Gudymov, the XS group, Dmytro Muravytskiy (Muryk - Mrk), Eduard Dylya Prystupa (NeDylya), Oleg Sobchuk (S.K.A.Y.), Borys Tarshys (Tarshys), Foma (Mandry), Vitaliy Kyrychenko (Numer 482), TIK Viktor Bronyuk, Mika Newton, DJ Lutique, Andreem Kyshe, Kuzma Skryabin, and Ani Lorak.
Our confession
City.com has won the recognition of its Clients and was awarded the title “Public Recognition: Brand of the Year 2005” in the nomination “Breakthrough of the Year: Chain of Electronics Hypermarkets”.
